NYC ORIGINAL SUBWAY ART EDITION “NOC 167″ STYLEWARS 20” MINI CLASSIC NYC COLLECTOR EDITION

$49.99

Collect a replica of Style Wars, the Iconic subway car painted by Noc 167, the inspiration for the documentary, Style Wars, celebrating the war of lettering styles, Wildstyle vs. Straight Letters, and more significantly, celebrating the battle for hegemony over public surfaces between the city authorities and Graf writers; a challenge to the system whereby large corporations get to use the public visual environment, instead of the people who live among those walls.

Henry Chalfant gave the world a representation of some of the best work by the most talented young artists who painted New York City’s subway cars in the seventies and eighties, the golden age of graffiti. A handful of Chalfant’s photos have been featured in such books as Subway Art and films like Style Wars. Henry Chalfant’s Graffiti Archives are a work of visual anthropology and one of the seminal documents of American popular culture in the late twentieth century. Now for the first time, Henry has opened up his entire archive for the next generation. His vast collection of rare images collected throughout the 1980’s was the inspiration and guide for thousands of youthful artists around the world. Now you have a chance to collect some of these rare images of these works of art on NYC Original Subway trains. The Subway trains are revamped, reformatted on NYC Original Subway Trains. The classic version measures 20″. This train panel features a classic NOC 167 train from the NYC subway period.
